The Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission presents an exhibition of the Highlights of the City Art Collection at the Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery from April 17 to May 25, 2017.  There will be an opening reception on Sunday, April 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.  The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church Street.  Gallery hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Representing a selection of the City of Bethlehem’s fine art collection, this exhibition comprises nearly half of the collection of approximately 100 works of art by more than 80 artists. Works include a variety of media with a majority of artists from the Pennsylvania region.

The artwork on display has either been donated by the City of Bethlehem’s Sister Cities: Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, Tondabayashi, Japan, or Murska Sabota, Slovenia, or purchased for the city by other organizations, including the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission (BFAC). Most of the purchases actually began 50 years ago.

Many of the pieces have significance to the city’s history or document the changing streets and buildings of Bethlehem. Some commemorate popular local talents as well, while others deal with both figurative and abstract expressions.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission (www.bfac-lv.org).
